I am Richard Kanai, a self-taught front-end web developer skilled in the latest skills in HTML, CSS and Javascript. I started learning coding in 2017 while taking my computer science course at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya and fell in love with it. I desired to build sites that work conveniently and efficiently. This desire dates back to my high school years.
I am Richard Kanai, a self-taught front-end web developer skilled in the latest skills in HTML, CSS and Javascript. I started learning coding in 2017 while taking Bachelor of Science in Computer science at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya and fell in love with it. I desired to build stuff that works conveniently and efficiently. This desire dates back to my high school years.
I combine my problem-solving skills, engineering and programming skills in all my work.
I enjoy creating websites the help a user achieve specified goals conveniently. I also love integrating APIs into websites for data usage and management. I tutor students who are getting started with web development. I use Firebase for most backend needs of my projects and Netlify for hosting.
I am currently learning React to advance on my front-end skills.

Hotel Meal Booking Site
This is website used to make orders in a hotel. It allows customers create account, view the menu, place orders and see the progress of their orders in the processing chain. The original design of the site is from canva templates which I decided to use and upgrade.
It has an admin panel on which the admin(hotel owner) can view and manage orders. Admin panel can be accessed by logging in using admin credentials. Below is a sample log in credential for a customer:

Richtonics Electronics Shop Site
This is a front end only project I did for an electronic shop website. This site displays products and their prices and description and has a working cart where one can add products. It also shows the total cost of item on the cart. Items on the site can be filtered depending on type thus making it easier for one to search a particular item. This site is Responsive.

Chirp Landing Page Clone
This is a challenge on Codewell to create a clone for Twitter's Chirp landing page. The design images to the website are offered freely and I used the to create this site, hosted on netlify.

Covid Africa Site
This is a responsive website that uses the Covid 19 Public Api
by MMedia to show Covid statitics in a country the user inputs
in the search box. It shows the some information about a
country, cases, deaths, fully and partially vaccinated people
and shows percentage of the vaccinated population in a country.
Note: Searching for a country outside Africa gives results
too but the table in the site shows numbers for African
Countries only.

Food Recipe Search Site
A responsive site on which you can get a variety of recipes when
you search for a particular food item such as chicken, rice,
banana etc... The site will show you a title, dish type,
cuisine, amount of calories in the dish, the meal type and the
nutrient content of the dish. It will also provide a link for
you to view the recipe to prepare the dish.
This is made possible by the Edamam Recipe API
